This project is a constructed wetland design in Vernon, CA on the site of the now closed Exide Battery Recycling Center. The main objective of the proposal is to create a regenerative landscape that strives to restore this troubled ground and begin to heal the broken hearts of the surrounding communities. Three large interconnected pools control and cleanse the water. Foot thick layers of mulch cover the entire site, capping the dirt, holding water, and capturing carbon. Neutral cut and fill define the design, while earth of varying densities border and constrain the topography.
