The project proposes to redesign the Crocker Plaza on USC’s University Park Campus by bringing in native landscape from Catalina Island, and also to create an outdoor research space and classroom for an island educational institute. The fascinating coastline is introduced to the plaza as a framework of landscape to provide vibrant edges, referring to the island-rich geology and biology process, to convey narratives of dynamic native landscape. At the end of the day, when coming across the plaza after class, one will feel that spectacular moment to meet the island in an urban context.
