LACC Nest House is a shared house for Los Angeles City College homeless students located on a half-acre site on Vermont Ave. and Wilshire Blvd. in Koreatown, Los Angeles. The spatial concept of the project is nesting – spaces within spaces – that are created in multiple nests of varying sizes and configurations. The largest of which is the U-shaped residential units. These form an outdoor courtyard for four smaller nests for dining, living, recreation, and study. The programs of a typical residential house are atomized and redistributed in the shared courtyard space.
