Lorcan O’Herlihy Architects project named 2015 Record House

The Shulman Home & Studio was recently named a Record House of 2015 by Architectural Record. Originally designed by Raphael Soriano, the house was owned by architectural photographer Julius Shulman, who passed away in 2009. The new owners hired Lorcan O’Herlihy Architects (LOHA), firm of USC Architecture faculty Lorcan O’Herlihy, to renovate the house. LOHA worked with the city's Office of Historic Resources (OHR) to ensure a balance between historic preservation and meeting the needs of modern life. Coincidentally, the landscape architect on the project was USC landscape faculty Mia Lehrer.

With its Record Houses, Architectural Record recognizes projects that “advance the architectural discipline” and “creatively explore the potential of single-family house design."
