Historic Resources Group project receives 2015 AIA Institute Honor Award

The 28th Street Apartments received a 2015 AIA Institute Honor Award for Architecture. Originally designed by USC alumnus Paul Williams, 28th Street YMCA opened in 1926 and served as an African American social hub in the era of segregation. The project restored the original building and added a new five-story structure, which includes affordable housing and support services for youths leaving foster care, the mentally ill, and the homeless.

Historic Resources Group, led by Managing Principal and USC Architecture faculty Peyton Hall, FAIA, was the preservation architect on the project.
