David Gerber publishes Paradigms in Computing

USC Architecture Professor David Gerber publishes his second book Paradigms in Computing: Making, Machines and Models for Design Agency in Architecture. The book contains critically acclaimed theoretical and project-based work that represents the design computing vanguard of architectural practice and design research, including works by Zaha Hadid Architects, Greg Lynn, Casey Reas, Philip Beesley, Tom Verebes, Patrik Schumacher, Jenny Sabin, Paz Gutierrez, and USC Architecture faculty Alexander Robinson, Jose Sanchez, and Alvin Huang.

“The goal of the book is to highlight the diversity of design and computing research occurring within and adjacent to Architecture,” said Dr. Gerber. “Clearly, there is a plurality of paradigms, interests and philosophies as we evolve into a post-digital era for architecture and architectural research. The book provides an expansive catalog and timely taxonomy of the diversity for architecture’s future as computing becomes ever more—in some cases, a background for how the work gets done and in some cases, the foreground for how work is generated. "

The book will be formally launched at the Case Study House #21 in 2015.
