In a recent piece for Places, Joe Day meditates on the relevancy of urbanism and context in contemporary Los Angeles architecture through the framework of Professor Victor Jones’s book, (In)Formal L.A.: The Space of Politics. Structured around a 2011 USC Architecture workshop that Jones co-organized with Stefano de Martino, the book includes writing from fellow faculty Diane Ghirardo, Warren Techentin, and Marcos Sanchez, as well as alumnus Reid Cigolle.

“A modest but sharply framed manifesto, (In)Formal L.A.: The Space of Politics brings together a range of insightful protagonists seeking a better future for Los Angeles architecture vis-à-vis urbanism.”
