06/07/13 USC Architecture Students Receive Accolades at L.A. Architectural Awards

 

 

Three USC School of Architecture students, competing against teams from six other design schools, were awarded one of two honorable mentions in the 2013 Julius Shulman Emerging Talent Competition USC student architects Jessica Chang '13, Yoon Her '13, and Zack Matthews '15 received the honorable mentions June 6 at the Los Angeles Business Council Awards luncheon. The two-day charette, held in February, was sponsored by the design firm Gensler. The award is named after the late architectural photographer Shulman. It was one of many projects celebrated at the annual L.A. Architectural Awards. Woodbury University won the award. The USC School of Architecture and Cal Poly Pomona received honorable mentions. A jury of several notable building and design professionals, led by jury chair Thom Mayne '69. USC took top prize last year. The Los Angeles Business Council has hosted the L.A. Architectural Awards for the past 43 years. The purpose of the awards is to celebrate a diverse range of innovative architecture and design projects throughout Los Angeles County. Awards are given to a wide range of project types, including new construction, renovations, building interiors, landscape architecture, green and sustainable designs.
