07/22/19 New USC Architecture Faculty Leadership Announced

USC Architecture is pleased to announce two new faculty leadership appointments.

Joon-Ho Choi has been appointed Associate Dean of Research & Creative Work, where he will provide leadership on issues affecting the research environment in the School and help develop a culture of promoting research productivity. He will work closely with the dean as well as with fellow faculty, students and the university to more fully integrate the School of Architecture into university-wide research initiatives related to the disciplinary knowledge represented by the School’s academic programs and research agendas.

Professor Choi’s primary research interests lie in the areas of advanced controls for human-building integration, sustainable building design and performance, comprehensive post-occupancy evaluation, and indoor environmental quality.

Associate professor and building science program director Doug Noble will be appointed Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, effective Aug. 1, 2019. In this role, he will work with the dean to implement the vision of the school by working with academic leadership and faculty, evaluating existing academic programs and initiatives, and participating in new academic-related initiatives and cross-university connections.

Professor Noble is a thoughtful educator who joined the USC Architecture faculty in 1991. His coursework has included design studios and seminars on computing, building science, building enclosures and design education.
