Tom J. Buresh is Professor and Chair of Architecture at the College of Environmental Design, UC, Berkeley. In 1988, he and Danelle Guthrie established  Guthrie + Buresh Architects. Their built and speculative work has been published extensively and exhibited internationally.

Buresh was Professor and Chair of Architecture at the University of Michigan from 2001-09. For the 15 years prior, he was a member of the faculty at SCI-Arc in Los Angeles where he served as Director of the Graduate Program. During the same period, he held visiting appointments at UCLA; UC Berkeley; Rice University; University of Melbourne; University of Texas, Austin; and the University of Minnesota.

Buresh was a Dinkeloo Fellow at the American Academy in Rome. He was recognized as a Distinguished Alumnus at the College of Design at Iowa State University and the Department of Architecture at UCLA. At the University of Michigan Buresh received the Salzer Award for excellence in teaching, the Faculty Service Award and was named the Emil Lorch Collegiate Professor. In 2015 Buresh was named an admired educator by Design Intelligence Magazine. He currently holds the Eva Li Chair in Design Ethics at UC Berkeley.

“Tom has been everything in education, from director of the graduate program at SCI-Arc to chair at Michigan to chair at Berkeley and in that time has seen it all, which explains both his perspicacity and wryness. We are lucky to have him join our Super Jury and I anticipate great discussions over matters weighty and slight.”
