Generation NEXT: Call for Entries

February 05, 2018

Following the success of last year’s inaugural event, the USC School of Architecture is pleased to announce USC Architecture Generation Next 2018 on Monday, March 19, 2018, as a showcase for its recent alumni and a reunion for all alumni.

In 2014 Forbes Magazine proclaimed that “Millennials Are The True Entrepreneur Generation” as an entire generation was forced to deal with a post-2008 economy and many recent graduates were eager to forge their own trajectories as traditional paths had begun to disappear. In parallel, the entrepreneurial spirit of the time has infected and affected the discipline of architecture by promoting independent and alternative forms of design practice while expanding into adjacent design territories.

The USC School of Architecture is proud to present USC Architecture Generation Next 2018, an evening in celebration of the broad range of independent design work produced by its young alumni. Generation Next will be a casual fast-paced Pecha Kucha-inspired evening of presentations by a curated selection of USC alumni who have gone on to individual success in the world of design and the built environment. 10 alumni who graduated in the year 2000 or later will each present 20 slides for 20 seconds each to showcase the impact of independent design thinking.

All alumni from ANY of the undergraduate, graduate, and Ph.D. programs at the USC School of Architecture who have graduated on or after the year 2000 and have gone on to some form of independent design practice are encouraged to apply.

The selection process will be juried by a panel of distinguished USC architecture alumni and faculty.
