Professor Dimster has extensive academic and practical experience in architecture and urban design. Recently, he taught design studios and lectured on urban issues in Hamburg, Germany and Vienna, Austria. As principal for William L. Pereira Associates, he was responsible for many large-scale projects in the US and abroad. Since starting his own practice in 1980, his work has focused on a variety of small-scale housing projects in Los Angeles, The Bahamas and in Europe. His work has been published in professional periodicals in the US, Japan, and Europe. He received a design award from the Los Angeles AIA Chapter for a single-family residence. He also received commendations from the LA/AIA and the Mayor of Los Angeles. The German government conferred its distinguished Service Award to him for his work in the restoration of its Villa Aurora. Professor Dimster was elevated to the College of Fellows of the American Institute of Architects in 1997. His current research interests involve residential design and restoration such as the Freeman house by Frank Lloyd Wright in Hollywood, as well as contemporary Austrian architecture and urban design. His book, “New Austrian Architecture,” was published by Rizzoli Press.
