Will Bruder, Founder of Will Bruder Architects based in Phoenix, AZ, has been selected as the Jon Adams Jerde, FAIA Chair in Architecture.  An endowment that honors Los Angeles architect Jon Jerde as an internationally renowned architect, urban designer, and distinguished USC School of Architecture alumnus. In addition to lecturing Bruder will teach a graduate studio course during the fall semester.

Originally from Milwaukee, Will Bruder earned a BFA in sculpture from the University of Wisconsin.  He apprenticed with both Paolo Soleri and Gunnar Birkets before starting a career in Phoenix, AZ in 1974.

Bruder approaches architecture as "functional fine art based on site and user needs," a philosophy he has used in buildings across the American southwest. His firm has specialized in designing structures that are sensitive to the landscape in material, design and orientation.  He is particularly known for his innovative library designs, both in the southwest and all across the United States.

Notable projects include the Burton Barr Phoenix Central Library, Phoenix, AZ; Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art, Scottsdale, AZ; and the Nevada Museum of Art, Reno, NV.

Lectures are free and open to the public. They are located in the Gin D. Wong, FAIA Conference Center, Harris Hall, on the University Park campus. No reservations are required. Parking is available on campus at Gate 1 off Exposition Blvd.
