Film Screening & Conversation: Face of a Nation

February 28, 2018

Gin D. Wong, FAIA Conference Center, Harris Hall 101

USC Architecture faculty Mina Chow will screen her feature documentary FACE OF A NATION: “What Happened to the World’s Fair?” Chow began FACE OF A NATION in 2010 after she visited the 2010 Shanghai World Expo, the first World’s Fair in China and with over 73 million visitors. She found the U.S. pavilion to be an uninspired disappointment, and the film explores the U.S.’s declining participation in World’s Fairs over the last 25 years and questions the country’s role in the world and perceptions of America’s image.

A Q&A with the below panelists will follow the screening:

Professor Nicholas J. Cull, USC Annenberg Center on Public Diplomacy

Assoc. Professor Jay Wang, Director of the USC Center on Public Diplomacy

Beverly Payeff-Masey, Executive Director, The Masey Archives of US Exhibitions
