Michael Hricak, FAIA Lecturer

Professor Hricak has been in private practice since 1980, after working for Welton Becket & Associates and SOM. Since that time, his firm has been honored with numerous awards and has been published in G.A. Houses, Metropolis, L’Arca, Interior Design, Interiors, and Deseno Interior, among others and in numerous books. Hricak coordinates design team efforts providing direction, analysis, design strategy, and management. He has worked with public, institutional, commercial, industrial, and private clients on historic restoration, adaptive reuse and renovation, multi-unit housing, custom residences, office buildings, corporate headquarters, department stores, retail shops, restaurants, and a wide variety of interior designs. He is a member of the national AIA Board of Directors. Prior positions include president and vice president for Communications/Public Affairs of the AIA California Council. In 1996, he served as president of AIA Los Angeles Chapter. He is frequently invited to speak at conferences, universities, and professional meetings and regularly writes on a wide array of topics. Mr. Hricak remains dedicated to design education through teaching positions at USC, UCLA Extension and as a juror at schools of architecture.
