USC American Academy in China featured in Architectural Record

 

Clifford Pearson recently wrote a piece in Architectural Record on this summer’s USC American Academy in China program, which focused thematically on developments in the rural, “in-between” areas of China, alongside vigorous urban growth. 

 

AAC 2015’s China in Flux: Mapping the Middle Zone included a forum and exhibition featuring the work of students and faculty from 13 universities internationally, including USC, Harvard, MIT, Chinese University of Hong Kong, the Architectural Association, and ETH Zurich. Also part of the AAC academic program, USC Architecture students “spent a few weeks in Lushan developing ways to renovate and adapt a group of traditional buildings for new purposes such as tourism and culture.” The studio partnered with Chinese construction/design company AVIC Legend, which was considering a project in Lushan.
