Housing
Prototypes Website
|
|
| The work
completed for this project related to housing design worldwide. My assigned
task was to do internet research on policy and technology as it relates
to housing, specifically searching for websites, which showcase drawings
and photos of projects for inclusion on www.housingprototypes.org.
The initial research skimmed the surface of this issue due to the vast amount of information available via the World Wide Web; however, refined searches and direction from my research advisor began to yield fruitful information on the topic. I met with Professor Sherwood once a week to discuss the work I had done the previous week, and upon reflecting on the findings, strategized about the next week of work. I found this to be very helpful, especially as we began to think about how to organize the data collected. I learned a lot from working with a professor that is so methodical and disciplined in his thinking. I am starting my thesis semester in the fall and really appreciated having such a focused and committed faculty role model. The research I conducted
with Professor Sherwood was informative and relevant, as the provision
of housing is a central issue in cities everywhere. As a result of being
involved in this project, I have become better informed about public policy,
research, development and sustainability issues related to the construction
of housing in geographies as diverse as the United States, Asia, the UK,
Continental Europe, and the Nordic Countries.
