  RESEARCH summary
title:
The Ideology of Progress and the American City, New Cities New Media II
During the semesters of fall 2003/spring 2004, I helped research materials for professor Amy Murphy. The main project that I researched for was entitled The Ideology of Progress and the American City. Taking a few major cities or towns, such as Miami, Chicago, and Los Angeles, I searched websites, books, and journals for maps and materials that would explain each cities evolving “ideal” development of progress through time and its effect on urban strategies up to present day conditions. I learned about valuable issues with each town as I collected the data and organized it in a large notebook, so the professor could eventually write a book and a few conference papers.

The second project that I helped collect information for was New Cities New Media II. With this assignment, I researched for all newly developed cinematechiques, mediatechiques, & museums with cinemas/theaters. I again organized all information according to architect and country for eventual conference papers.

The final and on going task has been helping with the USC Architecture school website. I initially began with Amy’s work and her students’ portfolios and reduced images to an acceptable format. Now I am working with Henry Buckingham, Garden Digital, and a few other students with the overall website. I’m currently in the process of securing information on all Graduate admissions, courses, etc. for updating the website in detail.
