Small
Leaning Communities
|
|
| Both
of us were involved in the research involving several small learning communities
as an alternative solution to the traditional public school (K-12) in the
city of Los Angeles. This study responded both to the declining performance
of students in the K-12 environment, economic and social contexts, as well
as the overcrowded schools in Los Angeles.
As research scholars, our tasks ranged from conducting research and collecting different information both from recent periodicals and publications, gathering case studies of schools, analyzing and assessing their benefits and drawbacks, and finally putting together the information in a format so they can be easily accessed by the faculty. The result of this research
project will be presented in a form of symposium that will be held in
cooperation with LAUSD and AIA Los Angeles. |
