  RESEARCH summary
title:
Freeman House

My GRS involvement included the efforts to restore the Freeman House, which currently is in a poor condition and creation of an architectural website for this historic building. I spent numerous hours finishing a Reader, which explains the history and the design strategy of the Freeman House. Working on the reader completion, I also learned and understood the construction methods, which were used to build this magnificent structure. Along with my GRS professor, Robert Timme, we analyzed the current conditions and tried to start the restoration process for the Freeman House. The ultimate purpose was to make the building alive again and have the original appeal. There are numerous blocks missing from the original construction of the house. As part of our work, we tried to build similar looking blocks to fill the voids in the walls.

Another part of the project was to create an architectural website for the Freeman House, which included all the information related to this house, such as history, architect, construction, interior, furniture, building material, and so on. The website would serve not only as an architectural resource, but also as an example of the historic preservation in the LA area. In the efforts to create a website, we collected and later selected lots of related images. Finally, we uploaded them to the server to allow others to view and use them.
