  RESEARCH summary
title:
Italy designed by Giuseppi Terragni”
Professor Brian Andrews is currently working on a book based on research of a school in Como, Italy designed by Giuseppi Terragni. I spent the Fall 2004-Fall 2005 academic year creating diagrams based on this research. The diagrams are to be published and displayed in the Fall of 2005. The main diagram work focuses on how Terragni used complex geometries to order his plans and derive special configurations as well. These overlaid geometries reveal a deep sense of proportion and sensitivity to how social interaction in a school setting may benefit from such relationships. Diagramming over old city plans of Como also reveal how Terragni organized his buildings based on how the Romans originally laid out the city with its castrum plan. The two programs that I used to create the diagrams were Adobe Photoshop and AutoCAD. Also, I used scanned plans that were provided by professor Andrews.
