Selwyn Ting first joined the USC faculty in 2001. In his role as the Associate Director of Graduate Architecture Programs, he advises all M.Arch students on issues of academic development and degree progress. He is currently the coordinator of ARCH 605a, Graduate Architecture Design, part of the required M.Arch studio sequence, which for 2014, is developing an environmental research institute on Catalina Island off the Southern California coast. He also teaches Third-year studio and Architecture Technology in the undergraduate program. In addition to topic studios, he has taught or coordinated all core years of undergraduate studio.
From 2004 to 2009, he was the Director of the France Study Abroad Programs, which included a semester abroad in Saintes, France as well as a Summer Program in Paris. As the editor of IDWRK from 2009 to 2011 he helped create the publication that showcased select student work from the School of Architecture.
His professional experience includes tenures with Morphosis Architects, Hodgetts and Fung Design Associates, and Keating, Mann, Jernigan, Rottet. In his role as project architect, he has led design teams for a wide range of building types such as the Hewlett Packard Regional Headquarters Building in Atlanta, E! Productions Broadcast Studio Building for MCA, Orlando, and "Art and Film" a featured exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles. As a project Architect with Morphosis Architects, he led the design team for the Science Center School and Center for Science Learning, in Exposition Park, which won an AIA Next-LA Award. His efforts have been published in GA, A+U, Rizzolli publications, Progressive Architecture, Architectural Record, and the Los Angeles Times, and have also been included in exhibitions in numerous venues, most recently in the Getty Center as part of the exhibition, Overdrive: L.A. Constructs the Future, 1940-1990. His current practice has most recently produced designs for residences, in Los Angeles and Northridge, a kindergarten in Chatsworth and studio facilities in Hollywood.
