Jia Gu is an architectural designer, educator and curator with a special interest in critical and conceptual practices in art and architecture. Prior to teaching, she has worked internationally in Berlin, Barcelona, and Anyang with Raumlaborberlin, Something Fantastic, and Kyong Park. She recently edited the book Chromatopia: Generally Different Towers for Shanghai. She holds a B.A in Visual Arts with Honors from UCSD and a Master of Architecture with Honors (Alpha Rho Chi Medal) from UCLA. She is currently pursuing a PhD in Architecture at UCLA and is the Executive Director of Materials & Applications. Her projects have been recognized and supported by the Graham Foundation, Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs, Los Angeles County Arts Commission, Pasadena Arts Alliance, and UCLA.
