A practicing structural engineer for over 30 years and licensed in the U.S. and abroad, Professor Guh has designed numerous commercial, institutional, healthcare and transportation facilities, involving both new construction and structural retrofit. Using both analytical and experimental methods, his research interest is in the seismic behavior of building structures and development of innovative structural technologies for performance-based design. Outside of campus, Professor Guh has served as vice president, principal, and managing director of several internationally renowned firms.
Since his joining USC as a faculty member in 1995, he has taught various graduate and undergraduate courses, including CE538 Prestressed Concrete Structures, Arch211 Construction Materials and Methods, Arch213b Building Structures and Seismic Design, Arch313 Design of Building Structures, Arch 302b Integrative Studio, and Arch411 Architectural Technology, and served as graduate student advisor on thesis. He is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), Structural Engineers Association of California (SEAOC) and Earthquake Engineering Research Institute (EERI).
