1999 Recipient: Juhee (Sophia) Lee

America, the Land of Symbols

Hello and welcome! My name is Juhee Lee and am a student at USC's school of Architecture. For the summer of '99 I recieved the Avi Efraim Gesundheit Traveling Fellowship. The fellowship allowed me to have the most amazing time across the East Coast. The focus of my trip was to better understand American architecture, how it began and where it was headed. In order to do this, I went to colonial America in the city of Boston, American governmental buildings in Washington D.C., and the contemporary American cities, Chicago and New York.
