USC Architectural Guild

The Architectural Guild is the primary support group of the University of Southern California School of Architecture. Founded in 1958, the Guild forms a unique link between USC Architecture students and faculty and the professional community.  Its members come from all the related businesses of architecture, design, construction and real estate development.

Letter from the Guild President
Welcome to the 2011-2012 year of the USC Architectural Guild, our 53rd year!

The Guild has a long history of mixing not-to-be-missed events with architectural exploration, professional networking and student support. This year promises all of that and much more. In pursuit of our mission to support the USC School of Architecture, the Guild has become a unique crossroads for architects, planners, interior design professionals, landscape architects, engineers, specialty consultants, contractors, owners, developers, students, faculty, alumni, and parents. I invite you to join us as we move into what is shaping up to be a fantastic year.

Signature events include the Corporate Event, which was recently held at the stunning Creative Artists Agency headquarters in Century City, the unrivaled Golf Tournament + Summer Mixer at Pelican Hills in Newport Beach, the upcoming weekend Symposium on Preservation & Midcentury Modern Architecture in Palm Springs during Modernism Week at Sunnylands (the Annenberg Estate and Conference Center), and the Orange County Mixer in the spring -- all culminating in our Annual Dinner in May.

In addition to the array of professional activities, the Guild also offers opportunities to engage with students and faculty through roundtable forums, the Student Charette (with $10,000 in scholarships awarded to the winners), the mentorship program, the Firm Fair, Career Week, our Studio fund awards, the Faculty Research Fellowship and numerous travelling fellowships and scholarships that we award every year.

Of great note, we have made a commitment to support the School’s XED (Executive Education) Summer Program. This last summer XED offered an impressive slate of courses for professional development with groups of high-level professionals in small focused 2-day courses. Be on the lookout for what is to come next summer!

The Guild wants to do more to help the School. Recently the School was ranked 9th (America’s Best Architecture and Design Schools, DesignIntelligence 2011) nationally among Schools of Architecture. University President C.L. Max Nikias has a commitment and vision to transform USC into the undisputed elite university in the country. That goal is very much in line with Dean Qingyun Ma’s desire to take the School to greater heights. The Guild is pleased to join him in pursuing his goal of pushing architectural boundaries and design technologies during this campaign.

I urge you to join us in these exceptional opportunities for professional development and connection to the USC School of Architecture. Become a member today!
