A School of Architecture/Roski School of Fine Arts collaborative exhibition is currently on display in the Lindhurst Fine Arts Gallery on the first floor of Watt Hall. This interdisciplinary exhibition is the result of explorations in the use of rapid prototyping as a means of creating three-dimensional forms.
In the fall of 2007 the Schools were joint recipients of an interdisciplinary ITS Technology Innovation grant that provided for the purchase of zCorp 310 3D printers. Since that time students in both Schools have been learning how to work with this technology to realize their projects.
Understanding the evolution of an idea, from two-dimensional sketch to three-dimensional model, has always been a mainstay of both sculptural and architectural practice. Three-dimensional prototyping extends the realization of form even further by creating very detailed and scalable models that would be difficult to achieve in any other medium.
Exhibit will run from Monday, February 9 through Wednesday, February 18.
Gallery hours: 9 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday
