Edward Bosley
Gamble House Director
The responsibility of the director of The Gamble House is to direct and manage the programs and preservation of this National Historic Landmark designed in 1908 by Charles and Henry Greene. The Gamble House was given by the heirs of Cecil and Louise Gamble to the City of Pasadena in a joint agreement with USC in 1966. The director of The Gamble House is responsible both for fund raising and supplying intellectual content to all programs, and for linking these programs to the mission of the USC School of Architecture. Edward “Ted” Bosley currently holds the James N. Gamble directorship of The Gamble House, succeeding founding director Randell L. Makinson in 1992. Ted has lectured and published widely on Greene & Greene and the American Arts and Crafts movement, and has produced numerous programs to engage visitors and scholars alike. He holds a BA in the History of Art from UC Berkeley and a Masters degree in management from UCLA.
